Genealogy presentation to be held November 17th

The Nodaway County Historical Society is hosting Erika Lees' presentation on genealogy.
Lees will discuss how to find family history online.
Coordinator of Events and Activities for the Historical Society, Cathy Palmer, says researching genealogy used to be very difficult without the Internet.

"Genealogy has changed over the decades.  When I started, you had paper charts that you filled out and most of your resources you went to the courthouse or if you were going out of state, you had to travel there.  There wasn't anything available online.  We were because the museum also had a collection of what was then the Nodaway County Genealogy Group and they had purchased a lot of books throughout the United States for research purposes.  But today is a whole other world and you can do quite a bit."

Palmer says Lees will guide people to the best resources for genealogy as well as costs of online services.
The presentation will take place November 17th at 2 p.m. at Nodaway County Historical Society Museum. The event is open to the public.
